With Harry Potter fever hitting the UK again this week on the release of the sixth movie – “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” – fans can add to their enjoyment by arranging summer holiday travel plans to include visits to locations around the country where the movies were filmed.
Premier Cottages has produced a “locations trail” for all six of the Harry Potter films, making it easier for fans to follow where the filming took stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
The nine-centuries-old, gothic Gloucester Cathedral features prominently in “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” as the setting of the Hogwarts School, and also was a primary location in two previous films. Holiday cottage accommodations well-located for tours of the Gloucester area include Hidelow House, the Moretons Vacations Houses, and Upper Court.
Around the medieval Wiltshire village of Lacock, several locations were used in the filming of the “Half Blood Prince”, including the Angel, Cantax Hill, 13th century Lacock Abbey and West Street.
Prestbury’s Church Court Cottages and the Coln Valley’s Swan House are two possible choices for holiday cottage accommodation near Lacock.
