Paris to Salt Lake City direct route to open
Posted on: August 25th, 2007 by Dave BessFrom next summer, travellers opting for the unlikely connection between the city of lights and the city of Mormons will be able to do so direct thanks to Delta Airlines. Delta is based in Atlanta, but uses Salt Lake City as one of its major hubs. This linking between Salt Lake City International Airport and Charles de Gaulle International Airport will represent the first trans-Atlantic flight from the state of Utah.
Gov. Jon Huntsman is excited about the prospects of a direct link between Utah and one of Europe’s great cities: “There is something different about a state and a city that has direct links across the Atlantic and across the Pacific. It is a huge deal.”
Ed Bastian, president and chef financial officer of Delta Airlines says Paris was chosen due to an alliance with Air France, making Paris the city to connect to anywhere else in the world.
The new flight 170 will first take off next year on June 2nd, and rinse and repeat daily for the 10-hour trip. Bastian went on to say, “It’s good to get it started,” Bastain said. Then we’ll certainly gauge how the flight is doing to determine future expansion opportunity.”
