Norwegian Cruise Line offers protection against job loss
Posted on: February 26th, 2009 by Dave SmithNorwegian Cruise Line has announced that it is introducing a new travel insurance programme, called the BookSafe Travel Protection Plan that will provide a full cash refund to passengers who have to cancel their cruise because they have been made redundant.
The BookSafe plans works like travel cover, and the cost is based on the cruise fare, starting from $29 per person. According to the terms of the plan, a participant who loses their job and has to cancel their cruise, even up to the last minute, will be reimbursed for the full amount paid. No cancellation fee is charged, and everyone in the same cabin is eligible for reimbursement, so long as they have purchased the cover.
Everything booked through NCL is covered, including air/sea packages. In order to be eligible for reimbursement, a plan participant will need to been with their present employer for at least a year at the time of the trip cancellation.
BookSafe can be purchased by any NCL cruise passenger at any time before the final payment for the cruise is made. The new programme goes into effect on 26 February and covers cruises departing from 1 May.
