New report identifies European proclivities
Posted on: February 20th, 2008 by Andrew MayerIt seems that the old tried and true hotel adage of ‘location, location, location’, may not be so true anymore, for the Brits at any rate. A new report released today by expedia.co.uk is the result of surveying thousands of European travellers. Two in three British tourists say that how their hotel is decorated and furnished are more important to them than the location or other facilities and amenities.
This new trend, referred to as ‘lobby snobbery’, is the latest in trends such as what has come to be known as the ‘super break’, where travellers opt for much farther destinations than before when it comes to short holidays or weekend breaks. Many Brits have been known to spend the weekend in locations as far away as Hong Kong.
The report also stated that travellers are becoming much more prone to stretch package holidays to the limits, with city tours, car hire and pre-booked airport transfers added on to their basic airfare and hotel package.
Other trends included booking the cheapest available flight to a destination, and using the savings to check in to a swanky hotel on the other end. Sporting activities were also big on the list of to-do’s among those surveyed.
