Representatives from Roraima Airways and Blue Wing Airlines met with the Guyana’s Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Manniram Prashad on Tuesday. The three agreed to work together to introduce regular scheduled flights three times a week between Guyana and it’s neighbor, Suriname.

The inaugural flight will take off on August 2nd, 2007 from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. Plans are also in the works for flights from Ogle Airport and discussions are still ongoing for connecting flights with other airlines.

Minister Prashad commended both airlines for their investment in Guyana’s local economy. He expressed his hope that others would invest in the country and that Guyana would develop a good name on the international market.

Rariama’s Chief Executive Officer Amichand Jhauw said that the airline is also exploring ways to connect the three Guianas in the future: Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
