More Indian destinations for Cathay
Posted on: January 16th, 2008 by Dave BessHong Kong’s award-winning airline, Cathay Pacific has already established itself as one of the world’s premier airlines, and now Cathay plans its next expansion- this time to more cities in India. Beginning on February 29th and continuing through early June, a total of 20 new flights will connect Hong Kong with the subcontinent.
There will be more flights added to existing services like Mumbai and Delhi, with a new route to the southeastern city of Chennai. Tony Tyler, Cathay’s chief executive says, “We are very excited indeed about being able to boost our services to India – something we have been striving to do for decades. With our home in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific is ideally positioned to act as the natural carrier of choice for passengers travelling to and from one of the world’s fastest growing markets, India. The opportunities for Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub are very clear.”
The upswing in frequency means that by the summer, there will be 10 flights a week to Mumbai, and 14 flights per week to the capital, Delhi. Chennai flights will begin with 4 flights per week, and even sister airline DragonAir will provide a link with India’s IT hub city, Bangalore.
