More fashion advice for business travellers
Posted on: February 14th, 2008 by Rosie Vaughan-JonesBusiness travellers are under a lot of pressure these days, not only to perform and sell and present and win over clients, but also to handle the hassles of air travel in the current climate. Looking the fresh and fantastic after a long flight and a longer wait in a security line, seems impossible but has never been more important.
According to Laurel Pinson a writer and editor for Lucky magazine, dark colours are always a good idea, “since they tend not to show wrinkles and any other travel wear and tear.”
Those travelling in coach as well as business class travellers can ask the flight attendants on most flights to hang their jackets, and thus decrease wrinkles even in light coloured sports coats.
Long time business cabin flight attendant, Tara Panchaud, said that flight attendants are usually happy to hang up other items as well. “Most men bring a spare shirt, which we hang in the closet for them,” says Panchaud.
Pinson suggests always travelling with Shout Wipes, just in case a few drops of coffee get spilled on a business shirt. Others take advantage of a hotel’s dry cleaning services.
“If I find out they do the dry cleaning in-house, I’ll trust them,” says frequent traveller Robert Krex. “But I don’t want my clothes going out. So I’ll tip a bellman to give me some local places off the record.”
Many frequent travellers also recommend Gucci loafers. “They’re easy to slip on and off, and comfortable,” said Panchaud who sees a lot of loafers in business class, especially now that airport security in America requires bare feet.
