Manchester Airport awarded best airport of the year

Travel professionals and consumers alike voted for the best airport in terms of use of technology, customer satisfaction and sustainability. The Manchester airport emerged victorious, beating various other quality contenders like Heathrow airport, Leeds-Bradford airport and Glasgow airport.
The award for the best city break was bestowed on Barcelona. Coming close in the running was Paris. The best country to visit was given to the US shortly followed by Italy.
The air carrier award of the year was given to American Airlines, while British Airways was awarded the Best Scheduled Airlines in Europe. Virgin Atlantic topped the long haul category.
The prestigious award for the second year running is allegedly considered to be a huge accomplishment for the airport, and it highlights the efforts put in by the staff over the past 12 months, the managers of the airport have said.
