Man still missing from cruise

After two days of searching for a missing man, the cruise ship that lost him has resumed its scheduled course.

Relatives of the 24-year old man last reported seeing him at 1:45am on Monday on his balcony. Royal Caribbean International confirmed that he was officially reported missing seven hours later.

The Freedom of the Seas cruise ship turned around in an attempt to find the man in the waters. The ship was cruising in the Bahamas off Eleuthera Island.

The man’s name has not been released to the press, but both the FBI and the Bahamian Maritime Authority have been notified of the incident.

The Coast Guard continues to search for the man, who may still be alive. Three people fell from cruise ships in March this year and survived the fall. In the waters off the coast of Florida, a 35-year-old man was in the water for eight hours before being rescued by his Carnival Cruise Lines ship. Later in March, a young man and woman fell off a Princess Cruises ship and spent five hours in the water before being rescued. Neither sustained serious injuries.

Between 2003 and 2005, 24 people were reported missing from cruise ships.
