Earlier in the month, a British national was arrested after jokingly placing a statement on twitter, and has since been banned from a local airport. The UK’s The Independent reported that Paul Chambers, 26, wrote on his Twitter that he would blow up the airport if he could not fly out in a week’s time.

The statement came out while the UK was in the midst of its first heavy snowfall and Mr. Chambers had been experiencing a series of cancelled flights at UK’s Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. The snow storm had caused the airport to shut down angering Mr. Chambers.

Reportedly, Mr. Chambers has posted the Tweet in jest and thought that it would be funny, but authorities took the threat seriously saying that it violated the Terrorism Act. Mr. Chambers was arrested a week after posting the message and detained for almost seven hours.

Ultimately released out on bail, Mr. Chambers commented that he was now banned from the Robin Hood Airport for life. He also added that he never believed anything would come of the Twitter post, commenting that he is a very mild mannered, laid-back guy.
