As Dubai continues on its way to achieving its apparent goal of being the most visited tourist destination in the world, with its myriad hotel projects, shiny shopping malls and other tourist draws, a new announcement launches Dubai into a new realm as a place that can attract enough people to host concerts by some of the world’s biggest performing artists.

The big news from Dubai this week is that the legendary singer Madonna will be performing two shows in the Middle Eastern emirate in November. The two-date engagement will pocket the singer an estimated 12.5 million pounds, as negotiations continue for her world tour to stop in Dubai.

A representative of Madonna was quoted in the British newspaper, The Sun, as saying, “Madonna is about to break another record by playing the most lucrative concert of her whole career – or anyone’s career for that matter. The negotiations for the tour to stop in Dubai in November are being finalised and she will get 7.5 million pound for the one show only. The figure is so big because of her new contract with Live Nation and the huge funds available from private promoters in Dubai.”
