Lufthansa ditches paper tickets completely
Posted on: March 19th, 2007 by Andrew BonesGerman national carrier Lufthansa made a bold announcement recently to completely do away with paper tickets on all domestic flights, starting from April.
Believed to be the first major airline to make the move to e-tickets entirely, Lufthansa says it already issues 96 per cent of its tickets in e form anyway, and does not expect too much resistance. However, those connecting to international flights will still have the option for a printed ticket.
The airline says an electronic ticket allows passengers much more flexibility and online check-in. However, part of their motivation is to meet targets set by the International Air Transport Association, who wants to see all airlines provide e-ticketing worldwide by the end of 2007.
