Investigations continue after a loaded handgun was found in a men’s room beyond the security checkpoint at Tucson International Airport in Arizona, USA. The surrounding concourse was evacuated while police investigated the scene. The gun was in a trashcan inside the men’s room entrance, and police are now trying to determine who owned the gun and how exactly it ended up where it was found.

300 people were evacuated form the concourse while airport security officers and members of the Transport Security Administration combed the entire concourse, causing five flights to be delayed, but the longest delay was only 64 minutes.

Spokeswoman for the airport Paula Winn told media that it was not known who found or reported the weapon at the time and that no immediate explanations were available as far as how security was breached.

Spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration Nico Melendez said, “It’s a matter that’s under investigation. I would not be able to speculate right now.’
