According to the latest figures released by the travel group, Kuoni’s UK bookings have fallen by 30 per cent.
The figures, through 12 April, are being released at the company’s Annual General Meeting this week. Denominated in Swiss francs, the booking levels are showing a 30 per cent decline. When viewed in British pounds, the decrease is 11 per cent.
Kuoni has said that bookings continue to be significantly impacted by negative currency movements.
For the group overall, booking levels are down 23 per cent, year-on-year, or 12 per cent lower in terms of local currency.
“This is a slight improvement on the booking figures published in mid-March 2009,” a statement from Kuoni noted, adding: “The upward trend is attributable to a growing tendency among consumers to book later and at shorter notice.”
At this week’s AGM, shareholders are being asked to approve the re-election of Henning Boysen as Chairman of the Board of Directors. David J. Schnell, a member of the Board, is also standing for re-election.
The meeting will also be asked to approve that dividends of two Swiss francs per Registered Share A and 10 Swiss francs per Registered Share B be distributed.
