Jetstar flights delayed for a second day
Posted on: October 7th, 2008 by Charlotte FellowsTen flights operated by low-cost carrier Jetstar from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Hobart and Sydney airports were cancelled Sunday night.
Jetstar officials have said that some of their passengers may experience delays for one more day, as the airline works on the repair of a failure in the computerized check-in system.
The computer system crashed for more than two and a half hours, leading to delays at all four Australian airports.
The 10 cancelled flights involving passengers at Brisbane, Gold Coast, Hobart and Sydney airports meant that the passengers were forced to stay overnight at airport hotels, but it was expected that they would be able to head off to their destinations on Monday.
A Jetstar spokesman, Simon Westaway, did warn however, that some passengers could face delays of up to another 24 hours.
“There may be some flow-though until Tuesday. This is very regrettable. With school holidays starting to close off in some states and still obviously open in other states, we’ve got very full aircraft, and so does Qantas and so does Virgin,” Westaway said.
“So we’re just utilising whatever capacity we can to get people to their end destination.”
