As part of its attempt to become one of the top five airlines in the world, Indian carrier, Jet Airways, recently announced a new design for a super luxurious first class cabin. The new design will be available on the airline’s flights between London Heathrow and Mumbai starting in May and is part of the airline’s multi-billion dollar expansion scheme. In the future, the airline plans to offer the same level of service and comfort to flights between Heathrow and Delhi Amristar and Ahmedabad.
The luxurious first class cabins feature rooms with 26-square-feet of space, privacy screens, and personal hanging wardrobes. In addition, the airline has just debuted the longest lie-flat bed in the world, with 83 inches of comfort for travelers to stretch out in. While lying in bed, passengers can enjoy a variety of entertainment options on the 23-inch flat screen TV’s, or check their email. The meals continue to be excellent, but the first class guests will be served on hand-painted Bernardaud porcelain plates.
Not all of the airline’s investments have been in the first class cabins, however. The airline also showed off a new economy class seat which includes a hammock-style head rest. The seat pitch is 32 inches and is expected to be a good deal more comfortable than most economy class seats, offering more support for passengers heads and necks.
“We have turned to the science of ergonomics to create a seat for our economy passengers that is arguably the most comfortable in the sky,” said the airline’s Choo Poh Leong.
