Italy the world’s best place to honeymoon
Posted on: August 1st, 2007 by Katy DaviesModern Bride’s 11th annual “World’s Best Honeymoons” survey found Italy to be the hottest destination for honeymooners this year.
Over 6,000 top end travel agents ranked their top 50 honeymoon locations in this year’s survey. The results will be published in the magazine’s August/September issue.
Last year the country fared relatively well, placing third in the survey but this will be Italy’s first year in top place.
Hawaii came second this year, a consistent chart topper in the magazine’s surveys over the past ten years. Tahiti was ranked third, followed by Costa Rica . The rest of the top ten list was rounded out by Mexico, France, the Maldives, Anguilla, Fiji and Greece.
In addition the survey points to the resort with the best beach (Caneel Bay, St John), the resort with the best bar (The Setai in Miami) and the resort with the best spa (the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai, Thailand). The Mandarin Oriental in San Fransisco was voted as the place with the most luxurious bathrooms. The ‘ultimate honeymoon suite’ is to be found at the Premier Overwater Villa at the St. Regis Resort, Bora Bora, French Polynesia.
For honeymooners this year, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Las Vegas were named as some of the most affordable places to get away and for those looking for more adventure with their lover, South Africa, New Zealand and Costa Rica are the places to go.
