After a strong Easter holiday period, Pontin’s in Prestatyn is hopeful of a boom in tourism this summer.
The holiday park resort outperformed its competitors, reporting a 28 per cent increase in visitors during the holiday, as compared with last year.
Pontin’s is now hoping that the surge will continue through the summer season, which would bring much-needed relief to the UK tourism industry.
Discretionary money is tight for many Britons currently, making holiday parks in the UK a popular option this year. It is hoped that this will have a knock-on effect with other areas businesses as well.
Research conducted by the holiday park operator revealed that over 20 per cent of adults in Wales plan to visit a holiday park during the summer this year, and 14 per cent indicated that they are more likely to take their holiday closer to home due to financial concerns.
Pontin’s sales and marketing manager, Jason Brindle, said: “Prestatyn is our only camp in North Wales but it’s been performing brilliantly with a 28% rise on numbers compared to last Easter. It accommodates over 3,500 people and has a tremendous heritage, but things just seem to be getting better and better.”
Brindle added: “We’re going to be spending more than £50m on our six holiday camps and Prestatyn will be getting a large share of that.”
