IHG shakes hand with ITT-Plaza
Posted on: August 2nd, 2008 by Rosie Vaughan-JonesIHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has signed a contract to build a Crowne Plaza hotel in the Ukraine capital, Kiev. The name of the hotel would be 225 Crowne Plaza Kiev. The hotel is set to come up in the city’s prime location, which is just 7 km far from the famous historical centre. It is set to open in the year 2012, the same year when Ukraine will be jointly hosting the Euro 2012 football championship.
The hotel is being constructed by a subsidiary of ITT Investment Group. IHG will run the hotel under a contract of fifteen years. Both the organizations, IHG and ITT are leaders in their respective fields.
IHG is already in process of developing two more hotels, the InterContinental Kiev and the Holiday Inn Kiev in the national capital. These two hotels are planned to start by the year-end 2008 and 2009 respectively.
CEO of IHG, Robin Wicks and the president of ITT believe that this is the most appropriate time to develop hotels in the capital. When the country has moved from GDP growth of 5.6 to 7.1 percent, the demand is bound to increase. IHG is targeting business as well as leisure travelers. ITT feels that it is a major opportunity for Kiev as well. Kiev hosts nearly 6 million travelers every year. This number is likely to increase by year 2009.
The blend of IHG expertise in hotel management, and ITT’s vast experience and knowledge is destined to result in a huge success.
