Ho Chi Minh City a hot tourist destination this year
Posted on: July 13th, 2007 by Jennifer JonesBetween January and May this year, over one million foreign visitors entered Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City in Vietnam. According to the city’s tourism department, the numbers indicate an increase of ten percent in tourism.
In the month of May alone, 175,000 visitors from countries such as Korea, Japan, Australia and America came to town.
One of the country’s major attractions is it’s natural resources. Vietnam has 1,400 miles of tropical coastline. While the country is still in the process of modernizing it’s infrastructure, the tourism industry is definitely growing in leaps and bounds.
A recent report on the future of the tourist industry in Vietnam says: “Vietnam is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Asia where tourist arrival rate is highest. Stable economic and political conditions, and various government initiatives make the country an attractive destination not only for tourists but also for the investors.”
