The original plan for the new Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow International Airport was to move all British Airways operations to the new terminal shortly after the facility opened for regular operations, but after the absolutely calamitous opening week, BA is delaying moving much of its long-haul operations to the new terminal from T4. Moving all of BA’s operation into one terminal was hoped to solve the problems of lost luggage and transfers between terminals.

The terminal that was supposed to finally put to rest the reputation of being the worst airport in Europe for delays and lost luggage has become even more chaotic, with the many system failures at Terminal 5. A spokesman for BA said, “In light of the disruption occurring after T5 opened, it is clearly prudent of us to review the timetable.” The original plan of moving all BA operations to T5 was originally scheduled to take place on April 30th.

The possible delay of the move also means there will be delay on construction and refurbishments planed for T4.
