Gulf Air launches Shanghai service
Posted on: June 19th, 2008 by Andrew MayerGulf Air has launched service from the Bahrain International Airport to Shanghai, China. “This is another significant and memorable milestone in the historic and friendly relationship that Bahrain and China have enjoyed for nearly two decades,” noted Gulf Air’s chief executive officer Bjšrn NŠf.
The service to Shanghai is being offered four times weekly, on an Airbus A340-300. First, business and economy class service are all on offer.
By the time this coming winter’s schedule is announced, the Bahrain-Shanghai service will be offered on a daily basis.
“As Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air is seeking to play an important part in further strengthening the ties by linking the two countries known for their history and culture,” commented Mr NŠf.
He said further that Gulf Air plans to expand its China service by flying to more destinations in that country in the future.
According to Mr NŠf, China is one of the world’s most rapidly growing economies and Gulf Air hopes to become the national carrier for investment and trade between these two business-friendly nations.
He noted that Shanghai was the most important commercial, communications and financial sector, boasting intense development activity and unlimited business potential.
