After Gary Glitter was released from jail he was set to fly back to the UK on a connecting flight in Thailand.  Glitter refused to board that flight and looked for an Asian country that would allow him into the country.  After he was banned from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China, Glitter attempted to fly to Hong Kong but was later turned back to Thailand.  As a result Glitter ended up boarding a plane back to the UK.  Gary Glitter landed at Heathrow Airport onboard a Thai Airways flight in the early morning hours.

Police are requiring that Glitter sign a sex offender list.  Glitter and his lawyer do not feel that he should have to sign the letter because the trial in Vietnam was unfair.  A reporter at the court, David Bowden said that “Glitter’s lawyer had tried to get a temporary notification order - in other words, he would sign the sex offenders register but only for a short period of time - he said six weeks.  This was so he could prepare a case that the trial in Vietnam was unfair and therefore the conviction shouldn’t stand, and if that didn’t stand then he shouldn’t be put on the sex offenders register.”

A judge has ruled that Glitter must sign the sex offender list within 3 days although he would have 21 days after signing to appeal.

Corker also noted that Gary Glitter was “pleased to be back because there’s the possibility that for the first time he can appear before a court of justice.”
