For third year Ryanair voted least favourite carrier
Posted on: October 16th, 2008 by Doug SmithUK travellers, for the third year running, have voted Ryanair as their least favourite airline, in a poll conducted by online travel guide TripAdvisor.
Of the 450 British travellers questioned, 30 per cent chose Ryanair as their least favourite.
At the top of the list was Virgin Atlantic, followed by British Airways and Emirates, chosen because of friendly and helpful staff, comfortable seating and on-time performance.
In a larger, worldwide poll, involving 8,000 travellers, British Airways came in at the top, with Singapore Airlines and Air France also rated favourably.
The respondents in the TripAdvisor survey were polled on a number of other points, as well. It was found that 56 per cent of those polled are planning more leisure travel in the coming year than in the past year, and that one-third are planning at least three holidays in the next 12 months.
More than one-half of the respondents (53 per cent) indicated that they had spent more than what they had budgeted for leisure travel in the last year.
In other areas, 26 per cent said that the cost of fuel was not important to them when choosing a holiday destination and 69 per cent said that unfavourable exchange rates wouldn’t deter them from choosing a certain destination for a holiday.
Twenty-one per cent of respondents said that they would make more environmentally-responsible decisions regarding travel in the future than they had in the past. A full 90 per cent said that they felt mobile phone use should be banned on all flights.
