Flybe to reintroduce Guernsey to Norwich route
Posted on: October 30th, 2009 by Rosie Vaughan-JonesIn what is being hailed as excellent news for Guernsey’s economy, budget carrier Flybe has announced it will reintroduce the Guernsey-Norwich air link next summer.
The airline had discontinued the service in September last year, citing a lack of demand.
The route is being brought back with a partnership between Norwich airport, Premier Holidays and of course, the airline. Flybe will be providing the weekly service on Saturdays. Services will commence in May 2010, and carry on through to September 25.
The airline’s head of press & PR, Niall Duffy has expressed delight at the reintroduction of the route, saying this would be good news for the island’s economy. He added that this shows that Guernsey remains a popular destination for UK visitors, and said the airline would be working hard with its partners to ensure that the route is a success.
Tickets will start at £44.99, and Susan Papworth, managing director for Premier Holidays has said the firm is expecting a high number of bookings from travellers wanting to visit the island.
Papworth said sales to the island have shown a steady increase this year, as UK travellers look to enjoy non-Euro destinations, and also sample the French influences that Guernsey is so famous for.
The reintroduction of the flight services has been welcomed by the island as a vote of confidence in Guersney’s tourism potential and enduring attraction to tourists.
