Fall fare sale with Southwest

New discount fares across the States are being offered by low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines. The nation wide sale is applicable on fares booked before August 23rd for travel between August 26th and January 11th 2008.

Flights which qualify for the discounted deals depart on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Saturday and require an advance purchase of 14 days.

One way ticket prices are on sale for anywhere between $49 and $109. An example fare for a ticket between Albuquerque and Houston is $89, not including taxes. Orange County, CA and Hawaii are not included in the sale.

A federal excise tax of $3.40 will be added to each flight segment (a take-off and landing). Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) will also be added and depend on the airport but can be up to $9. Finally, a Security Fee of $5 each way is also applicable on all tickets.
