Fairmont Hotels Make eReaders an Amenity
Posted on: August 13th, 2010 by Paul FenrichIt has been announced that Canadian-based Kobo has mas made a deal with Fairmont Hotels to make their Kobo eReader available to Fairmont Gold guests staying at hotels in the US and Canada. The eReaders have been loaded with some new and bestselling books from Random House, and they will be available free of charge at 10 Fairmont locations.
E-books are being pushed out by book publishers and e-reader manufacturers on a variety of platforms, wireless channels and in stores. In this promotion, Kobo is appealing to travelers that don’t want to carry heavy books with them on holiday. This will provide eReaders to Fairmont hotels, which will make the devices available to people while they stay in exclusive Fairmont Gold sections.
Kobo chief executive Michael Serbinis says that travelers are great for the offering and a group that is eager to use eReaders. They know that travelers don’t want to carry heavy books with them, and holidays provide the perfect relax and catch-up time for reading, he continued. This partnership allows his company to expand their reach and offer services to a vital segment of their customer base, he added.
Random House of Canada president and chief executive Brad Martin said that they are thrilled to partner with Kobo and Fairmont to allow travelers the chance and convenience of reading books from some of their bestselling and awarding winning authors through these eReaders. He added that he is sure guests will really like this experience.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts vice president of marketing and communications Brian Richardson said that offering distinctive and valued benefits allows them to provide something unique to their most loyal guests during their stay. The Kobo eReader is a great way that guests can enjoy entertainment during their stay, he added, and it’s a great partner for the company.
