Expedia Partners with Google to Launch Expedia Hotel View
Posted on: June 14th, 2010 by Bobby V-JonesExpedia.co.uk, which is the leading online travel booking site in the UK, has teamed up with Google to provide a street view of the hotels on their website. Using Google Street View technology incorporated into the Expedia UK website, consumers can now see a hotel as if they are standing in front of it on the street, which the company is calling Expedia Hotel View.
Expedia Hotel View has been set up on a website of its own – www.expediahotelview.com. With this new service, consumers will be able to pinpoint exactly where a hotel is located and what attractions are nearby before they decide to book.
When using the new site, travelers can simply search for hotels in their destination. The map will provide a number of those that are available, and then users will get to take a look at each one. There is also a pop up that shows hotel pictures, customer reviews and Expedia’s rates – all of which the company already features on their main site.
With Expedia Hotel View, travelers won’t have to just trust that the hotel description is accurate. Now they can virtually walk down the streets around the hotel to see what restaurants, stores, etc are around the area. Then when they are done, they will be able to make a booking with just a few clicks.
Expedia EMEA director of online partner marketing Alex Gisbert said that by bringing together detailed information and a broad choice of hotels, travelers can take advantage of the thousands of deals offered by Expedia with the reassurance they have basically seen their holiday accommodation first hand. With Expedia Hotel View, they are taking consumers even closer to their destination, providing them with all the details they need to make a booking easy and simple, he added.
