Euroferries catamaran delayed again
Posted on: November 16th, 2009 by Andrew BonesEuroferries’ new catamaran from Ramsgate to Boulogne was delayed again, and was not launched on its expected date of Nov 14th. The catamaran is a high speed ferry service meant to operate from Ramsgate to Boulogne.
This was in fact the third consecutive time that the launch was cancelled. Originally, the announced launch date was March 31 and later was pushed back to September. The reason for the delay was mentioned as events outside the control of the company.
Other rumours about the cause of the delay were quashed, as authorities denied that problems were due to essential maintenance work. The dredging of Ramsgate port was also allegedly said to be a two-day job.
Clients complained that the customer service centre sent a barely audible recorded message to all its passengers scheduled for the first day, informing them of the delay. All bookings affected were given the option of either a refund or first class travel facilities on any other later date.
The money collected from all the passengers for the first crossing is dispensed to a third party. Unless the company makes it first crossing, it will not be entitled to it. However, the next date for its launch has not yet been declared.
