EasyJet fills XL gap with new services
Posted on: September 24th, 2008 by Doug SmithEasyJet is introducing three flights to destinations in Spain and Turkey to meet demand created by the XL Airways collapse, according to officials at the carrier.
The budget airline is operating the extra services from Gatwick Airport to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, in Spain’s Canary Islands, and to Dalaman in Turkey. These services are in addition to its established flights serving those destinations.
Beginning 2 October, an easyJet flight to Arrecife, on Tenerife will depart Gatwick at 7:15 am, schedule to arrive at Arrecife at 11:25 am. The return flight will depart at 12:20 pm, arriving Gatwick at 4:20 pm.
An additional morning flight to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria will depart Gatwick beginning 6 October, at 6:20 am, arriving at Las Palmas at 10:35 am. The return leaves the Las Palmas airport at 11:20 am, arriving Gatwick at 3:15 pm.
On the same day, easyJet will add an extra flight to Dalaman, in Turkey. The flight departs from Gatwick Airport at 7:15 am and arrives at the Dalaman airport at 1:15 pm. The return leaves at 2:00 pm, arriving Gatwick at 4:15 pm.
A spokesman for easyJet confirmed the additions to the schedule, saying: “The additional seats are in response to a lack of available seats between the UK and these key holiday destinations.”
