easyJet Begins First Sweden Route
Posted on: June 7th, 2010 by Katy DavieseasyJet has announced that they will launch their first route from Britain to Sweden starting September 6. The budget airline has chosen Gothenburg to fly to, which is the second largest city in Sweden. The flights will depart from the Gatwick Airport in London, and tickets are already on sale for as little as £27.99 one-way, including taxes.
Paul Simmons, the general manager in the UK for the carrier, said that launching their first UK to Sweden route is proof of their commitment to offer more travel destinations to passengers, and it’s always exciting to add a new country to an already long list of destination choices that they operate flights to. The airline believes Gothenburg will be a great addition to their network for both leisure and business travelers, he continued, and passengers will get to enjoy great service and low-cost fares to convenient airports by flying with them. Simmons added that the city will increase their total number of routes from Gatwick to 81, and they will soon be announcing even more new destinations.
Gothenburg is a historic town that offers many attractions for travelers, including boutique shops, cafes, museums, as well as Liseberg, which is one of the largest and most beautiful amusement parks in Europe. Seemy Rülf, the director of VisitSweden, said that they are delighted with the launch of this route by easyJet, as the competitive prices from the carrier in combination with the value for money that the region offers help make the country a must see destination for British travelers, he added.
