Dnata entrenches itself in Afghanistan
Posted on: May 9th, 2008 by Charlotte FellowsDnata Travel has been a major source of transportation for the United Nations in Afghanistan since 2001, and in 2004 the company set up its own base in the troubled nation. Now a deal has been worked out with Dunya Travel to further its Afghan supply capabilities. Dnata will take care of all emergency, medical, corporate and leisure travel for 21 UN agencies, including the obtaining of visas, accommodation arrangements and flights.
Dnata’s vice president A Majid Al Mulla says, “Dunya Travel is the leading travel agency in Afghanistan and its expertise in the local market and additional language skills will prove invaluable to Dnata as we continue to strengthen our presence in the country.
Dnata is keen to expand operations in the capital, Kabul, and in the future we will consider opening offices in other cities across the country. As the security situation in Afghanistan stabilizes, there will be increased business opportunities, as additional multinational corporations enter the arena. With this new agreement, Dnata Afghanistan will be extremely well placed to take advantage of these opportunities.”
