Disheveled, distraught and wayward man found in Arizona
Posted on: July 3rd, 2007 by Neill ZerkA frequent traveller will always have an anecdote of an unruly passenger making a scene that immediately draws your eyes to the ground and count the seconds that pass until the situation does. Last week in the United States, the aftermath of one such passenger was found in what must be one of the more extreme cases of social ineptitude.
Mr. Roosevelt Sims, 65 of St. Louis, Missouri was ejected from an Amtrak train for unruly behaviour. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari commented that, “The person was reported by our conductors to be unruly, disruptive and unwilling to take direction from the conductor to bring his behavior to a level that was not disruptive.”
When the train was stopped and Mr. Sims was removed, he fled to the adjacent woods and the police and train officials gave up their search after a few minutes. They didn’t resume their search until the family of the escaped asked for help.
Mr. Sims was found in Arizona four days later, in a frightful state, wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a single sock. After the disappearance, the family told St. Louis Post Dispatch that he had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and was not of sound mind.
