The United States Department of Homeland Security has upped its requirements on an already substantial security increase by asking foreign entrants to the US to provide fingerprints form all 10 digits instead of only 2. The new rule has been implemented at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, under the guise of more accurate security measures and the counter-terrorism line that has been the war cry of the DHS as it has stepped up border security on every imaginable level.

The 10 digit requirement has come under the department’s US Visit program, and director Robert Mocny explains, ‘Biometrics have revolutionized our ability to prevent dangerous people from entering the United States since 2004. Our upgrade to 10 fingerprint collection builds on our success, enabling us to focus more attention on stopping potential security risks.’

As of now, collected fingerprints are checked against existing records of immigration violations, and federal files of known or suspected terrorists.
