Posted on: August 19th, 2008 by Andrew BonesJetBlue and Delta have just announced that they will be waiving fees normally charged for changing flights, for those passengers who are scheduled on flights that are being impacted by tropical storm Fay, about to hit south Florida.
Delta Air Lines said that passengers who were booked on flights to specific cities in Florida and Georgia would be able to change their schedules without paying extra charges - due to the high winds, heavy rains, and flooding expected from the storm, according to a Reuters report.
Customers who purchased their tickets before August 16, and scheduled to travel before August 21, from or to one of the specific cities, will be allowed to make a one-time change without paying a penalty, as long as the re-ticketing occurs before August 21.
The cities involved include Brunswick and Valdosta, in Georgia, and Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Key West, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, and West Palm Beach, in Florida.
JetBlue reported that it would waive fees for rescheduling flights and also fare differences for their customers whose travel involve certain Florida airports.
The cities involved in the JetBlue announcement include Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, and West Palm Beach – for flights through August 20. Re-bookings must be made for travel by August 26.
