Continental exec to retire

Jeff Misner, the chief financial officer at Continental Airlines has announced that effective as of August 31st of this year, he will be stepping down form his position, using his 55th birthday as the marker to begin his retirement. Misner has held the position since 2001, and has been working in the company since 1995. Chairman and chief executive of Continental Airlines Larry Kellner says of Misner, “Jeff has made great contributions to Continental during his 13 year tenure. He has been a valued and trusted member of our senior management team, and everyone will miss him. We wish him well in his retirement.”

Misner’s successor has been named as 37-year old Zane Rowe, who currently holds the post as the senior vice president for network strategy at the airline. Kellner says, “Zane has served Continental for more than 15 years and has proven financial, analytical and operational experience. He is an integral part of our senior management team and the perfect choice to succeed Jeff as our next CFO.”

Both the current CFO and his successor will work together until the end of August to make for a smooth transition for both men.
