Co-op Travel and Carrentals.co.uk have announced the signing of an agreement that will make it possible for visitors to the cooptravel.co.uk website to compare price offers from more than 35 car hire companies.

According to Carrentals.co.uk, Co-op Travel is the first company to incorporate its white label solution into their website. The travel company is aiming to double its car rental business during the first year of the deal.

Justin Joyce, Co-op Travel’s head of customer experience, commented on the agreement: “The Carrentals solution offered us the ability to include their full comparison service, but with our own branding throughout. The result is a far superior car hire experience for our customers, with feedback from users already very positive and bookings in the first few days of launch well ahead of target.”

The agreement comes at a time that many UK consumers are facing both car hire shortages and rental rate increases both in Britain and abroad, due to rental car reducing the number of cars in their fleets as a result of the recession.

Gareth Robinson, Carrentals.co.uk’s managing director, said: “This is the first white label agreement we have entered into, but the quality of our car hire offering is attracting growing interest from companies who want to enhance their customer experience in this area. We’ve invested a lot in developing the technology to deliver a first class comparison service, and we are confident that Co-op Travel will quickly see the benefits this brings in terms of sales and service.”
