Choice survey unveils best and worst airlines
Posted on: March 31st, 2010 by Dave BessMost Australian travellers like Singapore Airlines and believe that their own flag carrier can do more. This was the result of a recently concluded survey which the Singaporean airline topped. The survey was undertaken by Australia’s advocacy body, Choice, to determine the airline that provides the best travel service and experience.
The non-profit organisation, which also reviews the products and services of its members, found that Singapore’s flag carrier garnered the most votes among Australians for the best airline to fly to 11 popular holiday destinations. Meanwhile, British Airways (BA) scored the lowest on the chart for flights heading to the UK.
The airline polls reveal the satisfaction rating of 9,000 Choice members on their latest flights in areas like cost, seat comfort, leg room, in-flight service, food quality, on-time flight schedule and check-in procedure.
Singapore Airlines ranked top for flights between London and Australia with a total rating of 81 per cent. Next in line was Japan Airlines, which acquired a rating of 79 per cent.
Emirates Airlines ranked third with 70 per cent rating, while Thai and Etihad Airlines both shared the fourth spot with 68 per cent satisfaction ratings. Virgin Atlantic and Malaysian Airlines followed with a 67 per cent overall score, while Cathay Pacific Airlines was placed sixth with 66 per cent.
The three airlines with the lowest scores in the survey were Qantas Airlines, Royal Brunei and BA, with 63, 62 and 57 per cent ratings respectively.
