Celebrity Cruises has revealed that it will withdraw one of its ships from Europe sailings next year.

After deciding to re-deploy Celebrity Solstice to year-round Caribbean sailings, the cruise line announced changes to its 2010 European itineraries.

Between 1 May and 9 October 2010, 13 sailings are affected, which had led to a number of 12-night Barcelona and Venice voyages scheduled on Celebrity Equinox for next summer being cancelled.

Celebrity Equinox, which will be named in July in Southampton, will replace Solstice next summer, offering Mediterranean sailings from Rome for 10 and 11 nights.

The previously-announced sailings scheduled on Celebrity Eclipse, which will debut next summer in Southampton, and those scheduled on Celebrity Constellation will not change, the company has said.

According to the cruise line, representatives will be contacting all passengers that have bookings affected by the re-deployment of Solstice.

Celebrity Solstice alternate between seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during the summer, and seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises, also from Fort Lauderdale, during the winter season.

The Solstice program will be the first time since 2004 that Celebrity has offered year-round seven-night Caribbean cruises.

In addition to Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Century will also run continuously from Florida, on four- and five-night sailings out of Miami.
