Celebrity gardener Jamie Durie traveling across several countries to film new show

Celebrity gardener Jamie Durie has been traveling through 13 countries filming a new television show called The Outdoor Room.  Among the many countries Durie has traveled through are Japan, Thailand, France, Italy, and Egypt.

While Durie was travelling through Japan onboard a train a fellow passenger recognized him.  “I looked up and some bloke was standing there.  Before I could say anything he just sits down and starts asking me about the best way to prune a bonsai. It turned out he’d seen me on TV in Australia a couple of weeks before.”

Durie spoke about the show and said “It’s got food, travel, makeovers, gardens and a real human element all pulled together into the ultimate, all-encompassing lifestyle show and in that way it’s nothing like any other garden makeover show on television. The show really brings together all the lifestyle elements that television has separated in the past.”

Due to the shows complexity and the large amount of traveling that needs to be done between filming each show Durie said “I’m putting my heart and soul into it because I truly love it and I think the viewers will reap the rewards.”

Speaking about a few different cities that they visit during the show Durie said “In Paris, we saw a vertical garden that was four stories high, while in Japan we visited a 1000-year-old Zen Buddhist garden. From all of that, we pull out palatable ideas that are suited to our country and climate, and take them home to create a beautiful garden.”
