Car thieves target Ellenton hotels

Nine vehicles were robbed from outside various hotels in Ellenton, Manatee County, Florida. The Sheriff’s Office believes one person is behind the thefts.

Cars parked outside the Hampton Inn, the Sleep Inn, Ramada Limited, and the Guest House Inn were targeted. The sheriff’s office said that windows were broken and thieves looted the cars for their contents.

Cellular phones, radios, driver’s licences, tools, clothing, cash and checks were among the items taken from the vehicles, despite the presence of security guards on duty at many of the hotels that night.

Travelers should always secure their cars at night and avoid leaving valuable items in the car. Instead, they should take advantage of hotel safes and keep valuables with them.
