For many travellers, the worst part about booking online is the fact that they have to part with important confidential information like credit cards numbers. Brussels Airlines says it has noticed a significant number of customers who cancel online ticket bookings when they are faced with having to enter bank account information or credit card numbers.

In these days of Internet fraud and scams, the consumer could be excused for being wary of providing any details at all. Brussels Airlines has now made it safer to book tickets online, by offering a cash payment option.

This way, customers no longer need to make entries like credit card information, even while purchasing online. The cash-ticket procedure involves making the booking online, but the payment at real-life outlets, in the form of buying redeemable voucher denominations. Cash-ticket vouchers will now be available at around 50,000 outlets spread across Europe.

The customer simply purchases a voucher, which comes with a 16 digit pin number. They can then proceed to make purchases on websites that allow cash-ticket payment as an option, including the airline’s own website. Cash-ticket vouchers come in denominations between € 10 and € 150, and up to ten vouchers can be used to make one payment.

The airline hopes that cautious customers afraid to make ‘traditional’ online payments will find this a much safer option, leading to fewer people cancelling booking transactions at the payment stage.
