Brits Warned to Buy Travel Insurance

The Post Office Travel Insurance has published research findings which indicate that at least one-third of holiday travellers at Christmas did so without any type of travel insurance policy for their trip. In the wake of the findings, the Post Office Travel Insurance is cautioning those travelling with out insurance to do so in the future.

The research reveals that 1/3 of holidaymakers in the UK do not bother to take out insurance, despite the fact that holiday travellers this year carried home upwards of £2.2bn in gifts. The Post Office urged these travellers to use insurance even when travelling domestically in the UK.

The shocking results revealed that even whilst travelling abroad, one in 10 Brits have not even thought about taking out an insurance policy for their travels and belongings. These results heralded true for anytime of the year, not just the festive holiday season.

Post Office Travel Insurance released that their average figure for claims on lost, stolen, or damaged items ranks in around £275 from the Christmas season. This figure is inflated by about 30 percent compared to other travel claims at normal times of the year.

Still, the Post Office is advising that, despite the time of year, holiday travellers should take out an insurance policy while travelling both domestically or abroad. The insurance firm also reminded that travellers who have previously taken out insurance should make sure that those policies are up-to-date prior to leaving on their trip.
