Brits Brace for Freezing Weather

The forecast brings bleak news as still water logged roads and railways could become even more dangerous as heavy snowfall could cause flood waters to freeze. The icy roads and railways could make UK roads even more dangerous over the next 24 hours.
Last night, temperatures fell rapidly to -7C, and most locations are expected to see heavy snow fall by early to mid morning. Scotland and Northern England are expected to get the heaviest fall with 3 inches by early morning.
Weathermen across the country continue to warn that this snowstorm could last for the next 24 hour period, making for a very white start to the December holiday season. The white December comes in the wake of a very wet November, with rains being one of the heaviest for the month in years.
Yesterday, Tewkesbury, Glos flooded completely after a burst in the River Severn causing its banks to rush the town after days of torrential rains. Just last year hundreds in this region found themselves homeless when flood defences failed to contain the riverbanks.
a representative at the Met Office, Helen Chivers, warned that folks better start dressing up warm as the first severe snowstorms have already begun hitting Britain this year. Although it had been wet and flooding, temperatures at remained moderate, however now, temperatures are beginning to plummet raising extra concerns in the North of England and Scotland which are typically hit with lower temperatures. These are expected to receive the worst of the snowstorms over the next several hours.
