Boy Puts Used Condom in Mouth at Atlanta’s Wyndham Gardens
Posted on: August 27th, 2010 by Dave SmithA US family is threatening to sue the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia after a 4-year-old developed sores and a fever from a used condom that he found in the room and put in his mouth. Chase Del’Shawn Jones was staying at the hotel on Piedmont Avenue NE on July 31 with his grandmother, Carmen Jones, and his cousin. The grandmother took them to Six Flags for a day, and wasn’t prepared for what happened afterward.
Attorney Thomas Jones, who is representing the family, says that Carmen was in the bathroom before she heard a scream and jetted out to see what was going on. Carmen described what happened, saying that when she saw her grandson, he had a used condom all on his tongue. Then the next day, Chase had a fever and she saw open blisters inside his mouth, on his tongue and on his lips. She added that the room looked clean to start with, with only a bar of soap and clean towels being missing.
The lawyer said that the condom, which had semen in it, was found in the sheets of the bed by the boy. He had his tongue in it, and his grandmother immediately pulled it out. The hotel manager went to the room and confiscated the condom, he continued, citing company policy, despite Carmen’s request to keep it for testing.
The family has taken the boy to a family doctor and to the hospital for treatment. They have had a series of STD and other disease tests, for which the results are pending. The attorney added that Carmen has also filed a report with the police department in Atlanta.
