Biz travellers don’t need wi-fi?

With all the hubbub about airlines rushing to be the first to offer a certain variant on in-flight internet access, a recent survey of business travellers ahs shown even they don’t feel the need to be connected at 30,000 feet. The survey was carried out by Orbitz For Business, and when asked if they would take a less convenient flight or even a more expensive one if it had wi-fi capabilities, 56% of business travellers said it wasn’t worth it.

36% of those surveyed said they would rather have a flight with internet service, would try to get on a flight with the service, but wouldn’t be heartbroken if such flights weren’t available. Senior vice president, general manager and COO of Orbitsz For Business Dean Sivley says, Technological advances have made business travelers today more productive than ever before. While there are those who use flight time to catch up on work, and Wi-Fi will enhance that ability, there are also many who view it as valuable downtime. If ever endorsed, many travelers feel it would be hard to rest with the person next to them talking on a cell phone.”
