Big growth for Ethiad Airways
Posted on: January 16th, 2008 by Neill Zerk2007 was a record year for Ethiad Airways, with an amazing 67% more passengers than 2006- a full 4.6 million to be exact. Ethiad spent 2007 focused on expansion, with added flights to regular worldwide destinations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America with 13 additional aircraft.
The average load factor for economy class was 71%, with flights to popular destinations like Toronto, Dublin, Manila, Katmandu, Lahore and Jakarta averaging over 80%. Business class occupancy also rose significantly on 2007, as 61% more seats were sold compared to 2006. The airline’s most lucrative routes for business class were Geneva, Sydney, London Heathrow and Toronto.
James Hogan, Ethiad’s chief executive officer says, “Our intense activity in 2007 resulted in another year of significant expansion. The story has been one of both quantity and quality, with record passenger numbers and seat factors together with growing recognition of the quality of Etihad’s products and services, as witnessed by a number of top industry awards.”
