BA follows Virgin Atlantic in lowering fuel surcharges

One day after Virgin announced that it would be reducing surcharges, BA followed suit with reductions of the same amounts.
Neither of the carriers, however, has lowered surcharges levied on first class fares.
BA World Traveller passengers will see a reduction of £13 less on longer-haul sectors and £10 on shorter sectors.
World Traveller Plus passengers will now be paying £6.50 less on longer sectors and £5 less on shorter-haul sectors.
On long-haul flights, defined as those of more than nine hours’ duration, fuel surcharges will be cut by £13, down from £109 to £96 per flight.
For longer-haul flights that are less than nine hours’ duration, the surcharge will be reduced by £10, down from £78 to £68 per flight.
Economy passengers on Virgin Atlantic will see the surcharge reduced by £10 on shorter sectors and £13 on long-haul flights and the airline’s Premium Economy passengers will see fuel surcharges cut by £5 on short-haul sectors and £6.50 on longer flights.
Upper Class passengers on the carrier will not see a reduction.
