BA considering cooperation with US airlines
Posted on: May 2nd, 2008 by Charlotte FellowsWith the announcement earlier this month that Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines would be merging, many other industry players have been trying to find ways to stay competitive in the face of the creation of the biggest airline in the world. Even form the other side of the Atlantic, The United Kingdom’s principal carrier, British Airways said it was looking for ways to cooperate with American carriers Continental Airlines and Continental Airlines.
A statement from BA said that, “British Airways is exploring opportunities for co-operation with American Airlines and Continental Airlines.” BA and American Airlines do already share membership to the OneWorld airline alliance, but are looking fro more ways to stay competitive in an industry experiencing ever-increasing strain with high fuel prices.
“We are confirming British Airways’ statement today that it is exploring opportunities for cooperation with American Airlines and Continental Airlines.” This is all that came from Roger Frizzell, an American Airlines spokesman speaking from the company’s base in Dallas, Texas.
