ATA releases green guidelines
Posted on: April 24th, 2008 by Bobby V-JonesA set of principles dedicated to exploring alternative fuel sources and outlining a commitment to lowering carbon output in a bid to be more environmentally friendly as an industry, the Air Transport Association of America has released its principles in a list.
The ‘Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels: The ATA Commitment” was made public recently, with the goal of making clear exactly what alternatives to jet fuel are feasible now and what can be done in the future to further clean up the pollutants currently emitted by the aviation industry.
James C. May, president of the ATA commented, “We must stay uniquely focused on further reducing the industry’s greenhouse gas emissions and on helping America enhance its energy security. With jet fuel prices reaching unforeseen highs on a daily basis – so high that now one-third of an average ticket goes to pay for fuel alone – and given the environmental challenges associated with traditional fossil fuels, the airline industry is even more committed to implementing alternative fuels on a broad scale.”
